Robotics - RoboBricks2 - DB9RJ11

1.0 Introduction

.The DB9RJ11 module provides an interface between an "RJ11" connector and a "DB9" connector and is used with WireHost Module so the user can establish two-way communication between a laptop or desktop computer and the individual RoboBricks2 modules connected to a CAN Bus.  The DB9RJ11/Wirehost combination is a powerful but easy to use debugging tool for applications using RoboBricks2 modules.

As an added debugging feature, the DB9RJ11 also includes LEDs as visually indicators that show data transmission on the TXD, RXD and DTR lines.  These LEDs are activated or deactivated using a simple jumper setting.

2.0 Revision Details

The historical detail of the revisions between subsequent versions of this brick will be detailed here.  Only revisions that create differences in the operation, programming or hookup of two modules with different revison numbers will be documented.

Rev B - Rev B performs the DB9 to RJ11 interface correctly but the LEDs are not properly wired so they must be ignored.
Rev C
- Rev C fixes the LEDs wiring problem so that it is possible to monitor the activity on TXD, RXD and DTR lines.  The LED's can be turn on or off by a simple  jumper setting.

3.0 Hookup Details

The photo below labels the various headers and switches which are detailed on the .
