Robotics - Robobricks2 - Terminate2 (Rev. C)

1.0 Introduction

The CAN Bus technology requires that the CAN Bus cable be terminated at each end with a 100 ohm resister connected between the CANH and CANL lines.  The Terminator2 is a utility module that can be configured as two CAN Bus "terminators"

In addition, the Terminate2 module can also be configured as a "splice" to connect two CAN Bus cables together.

2.0 Revision Details

The historical detail of the revisions between subsequent versions of this brick will be detailed here.  Only revisions that create differences in the operation, programming or hookup of two modules with different revison numbers will be documented.

Rev C - Both the Rev C and Rev B versions can be used as terminators.  The principal difference between Rev C and Rev B is that the Rev C module can be configured to be either a terminator or a splice where as Rev B can only be used as a terminator.

3.0 Hookup Details

For the circuit diagram details, please refer only to the Rev C circuit diagram as earlier Revs have have wiring errors.  The Terminate2 module may be configured either as a CAN Bus "terminator" or a "splice" connecting two CAN Bus cables.

3.0.1  Terminator Configuration

When used as a CAN Bus "terminator", the headers J1, J2 and J3 must be configured as follows:

3.0.2  Splice Configuration

When used as a CAN Bus "splice", the headers J1, J2 and J3 must be configured as follows:
